An Evening Of Fun With The Squirrel Nut Zippers

I have always been a lover of live music, so I seldom pass up a chance to see a band in person, even if it’s one I haven’t listened to before. My love of music covers many genres, and for the most part, I can thank my father for the variety I have introduced into my life. Being around a band that plays so many types of music has its benefits.

Recently, on a Saturday night, a friend of mine invited me to see the, Squirrel Nut Zippers, at the State Theater, in Eau Claire. I had heard of them, but didn’t know offhandedly, what they played. I decided that it would be nice to see friends and spend a night out, so I agreed to go. Man, am I glad I went.

The Squirrel Nut Zippers have a big band sound. The band consists of nine people. Their female lead is from New Orleans, so they have that New Orleans flair. The music was lively, upbeat, and it had my foot tapping from note one. My favorite thing about the evening was that this band knew how to put on a show. They danced, they played, they had a great time with each other, and the audience was engaged.

I went home after the show, wishing it hadn’t ended. I wanted more. I could have listened to them all night long. I decided to check out their music on Amazon, and while it was still great, it just didn’t provide the same experience, though I will continue to listen. This group puts on a fabulous show, and I would recommend them to anyone who likes that jazzy big band sound.

The MSP Escape Lounge Experience

Many people don’t like to fly, or they find the airport to be quite boring. Not everyone is as satisfied with people watching, as I am. If you are flying out of the MSP airport, and you need something to occupy your time, check out the, Escape Lounge.

The Escape Lounge, is a VIP area where you can sit and relax. Anyone can buy a pass into this area. If you happen to be a lover of Groupon, you may even find a voucher for the Escape Lounge.

Inside the lounge you will find plenty of space and outlets, for plugging in laptops as well as phones. Once you pay for entry into the lounge, you will have unlimited food and beverages to choose from. Alcohol is also unlimited, providing you are choosing items from a specific shelf. Some beverages are an extra fee.

Food in the lounge consists of sandwiches, cheese trays, cookies, brownies, soups, tacos, taffy, and a coffee machine that can make everything from black coffee to a mocha or espresso. I cannot vouch for the earlier hours of the day, but I have heard that they have eggs and pastries, which I will check out in March, when I next visit.

The atmosphere of the Escape Lounge was clean and quiet. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I very much enjoyed my visit, and I will be going back and bringing family with.

If you are flying out of a different airport, checkout the Escape Lounge site to see if your airport has one: http://www.escapelounges.com/
